Beyond this flagship publication, Dr. Antonoff authored the influential College Match: A Blueprint for Choosing the Best School for You, now in its Fifteenth Edition with over 30 years in print. College Match is used by hundreds of high schools as a textbook in college planning curricula. For nearly two decades, readers of Barron's Profiles of American Colleges have benefited from his insightful article, "Know Yourself."


A sought-after speaker and webinar presenter, Dr. Antonoff addresses crucial topics such as "Ranking the Academic Quality of Colleges," "College Admission: Getting-in and Fitting-In," and "College Planning: De-stressing or Distressing?" His presentations cut through myths and provide practical wisdom for navigating the complex college landscape.


In 2019, Dr. Antonoff published A Student of Colleges: Fundamentals of Independent Educational Consulting, a textbook that establishes best practices for the more than 5,000 professionals in the field.
As founding chair of the credentialing commission for the American Institute for Certified Educational Planners (AICEP), Dr. Antonoff has been instrumental in establishing professional standards for educational consultants globally.


His decades-long involvement with the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) includes being instrumental in founding the Summer Training Institute, serving as board president, and chairing multiple strategic committees. The organization's annual recognition for excellence now bears his name—the Steven R. Antonoff Award for Professional Achievement—after he became its first recipient.


Dr. Antonoff's professional affiliations extend to the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), where he serves on the Standards and Ethics Committee and faculty of the Professional Development Institute. He has also contributed to the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
Committed to advancing the field, Dr. Antonoff teaches in and advises the independent educational consulting certificate program at the University of California, Irvine, having previously taught at UCLA. His former students now practice as consultants and college counselors worldwide.


Before establishing his college advising private practice, Dr. Antonoff spent 11 years in college administration at the University of Denver, serving as dean of admissions and financial aid, executive director of admissions and student affairs, and dean of students. He holds a PhD in human communication studies and a master's in education from the University of Denver, following an undergraduate degree in psychology from Colorado State University.
